For Dirt Rooster, mountain bike coaching provides a new area of expertise for our clients, our team, and our community.
It is our pleasure to share further knowledge and exploration around our passion for the art of mountain biking. Coaching and being coached is an exchange that supports the love we share of biking, the biking community, and the places we ride.

Been riding since 2015, Started in Patapsco, spent 4 years in Pisgah national forest, back to Maryland after that. I Raced Collegiate for a year of that time.
My favorite part of coaching is being able to approach our sport from a safer and deeper perspective. Bringing the sport to more people is always my goal.
My favorite local ride is anything in the Fredrick watershed; any time on a bike is a good time and I am not too choosy, just thankful to be on a bike.

I started mountain biking in 2013 and quickly fell in love with Patapsco Valley State Park and the mountain biking community. While many lengthy road trips led me to trail systems throughout the Pacific-Northwest and Upstate New York, there is no place I'd rather be than on home trails.
I've always been enthusiastic about teaching, and now being given the tools to coach mountain biking has me diving deeper into what it takes to maximize efficiency on the bike.
My favorite places to ride include Banneker, Avalon/ Orange grove, and Rockhaven areas of PVSP.

I love the sensation of soaring across the surface of the earth. After 4 years of ski racing for Penn State, I moved out to the Teton range of the Rockies – Jackson Hole, WY – spending 16 ski seasons refining that sensation and building/riding my own custom, hand-built skis. For me, mountain biking shares snow-riding’s beauty of self-expression: the feel of the dirt, the
challenge of the terrain, the synergy of body/bike, and the exploration of it all.
I love coaching because sharing experiences creates a two-way current of energy. When enjoyment is present, theory and experimentation feed the learner and the teacher. The fundamentals of riding are my muse, searching all day in the woods for the perfect turn.
One of my favorite runs in Patapsco is the Upper Through trail, BC side, downriver towards Daniels, passing by ‘Hell of the North’, dropping to the train tracks. The play of the turns down the ridgeline shoulder, from mellow low-angle, increasing in intensity, playing left across the face – a few roots rocks features, opening to a huge view of the river, and a janky finish to the
tracks!
